Before a New York wedding, many important items—short of the rings— can be lost, then easily found. However, one crucial element cannot be retrieved once gone: pictures of the bride and groom’s fathers with their extended families.

 Many families tend to be spread out across the region and not simply confined to Westchester, Hudson Valley, Rockland, or even in New York itself. Many photographers, in turn, may be unaware that it is important to catch family on camera on this special day-as this might be the first day in a long time for distanced family members to celebrate together in a special place.

This is only the beginning; other forgotten photo opportunities include fraternity and sorority groups, the bride and groom’s godparents, high school friends, and co-workers. No matter how sharp her eye may be, no photographer will be able to decipher these different groups by looking at the congregation, and even less so by trying herd them together for impromptu pictures at the reception.
